Set up a schedule. Ten hours a day is a full day. If you have a set schedule then it's easier on you and the kids. And don't be afraid to add in "quiet reading time" type breaks in there! That age is perfect for it. Best time, after lunch for a bit.

They'll also be way better behaved with a set schedule. And by set schedule I don't mean every second is accounted for, but more general idea. 10-11:30 is art/craft time, 11:30-12 is outside/free play, 12 is lunch, 1-2 is quiet reading. Something general like that. And then it's easier for you to find activities to go with those scheduled times too.

Seconding this, INCLUDING quiet time!

A good schedule has lots of physical activity - get those kids running around and sweating, they need to get rid of all that energy! But it can't all be hyperactivity. Quiet time is REALLY important to balance overstimulation.

Definitely have book reading time. You and the little ones can sit and read together, the 11-year-old can read on his own. Take them to the library even, so they can get excited about picking out books.

It's okay to have some TV/movie time, but that's a good winding down activity. Movies are a great activity to do as positive reinforcement for the kids completing daily chores/tasks.

I assume they do have daily chores/tasks, btw. They can all help set the table and clean up after meals, even a 6-year-old ought to be doing some basic tasks.
