what aspect of Kermit's character exactly was this about?

The first half season of The Muppets (assuming we're talking about the short lived tv show here.) Kermit, and a lot of the other characters were just mean. It was especially evident with Kermit because Kermit is...well...Kermit. He never has a bad thing to say about anybody. He'd just indulge with long suffering sighs and a joke at the camera.

I can't think of any examples because I only watched each episode once on first run.

Having said that, the second half of the season was much improved and I even got choked up at times. The Gonzo episode especially, but also the friendship between Piggy and Deadly was a high mark.

Deadly was hands-down the best thing about that show, and I would have put up with worse characterizations of the rest of the Muppets just to get more of him. I also loved what they did with Sam Eagle. He got his original characterization back instead of the ultra-patriotic caricature he's been for years.

The back half of the show was such a vast improvement over the first half that I felt really bad when it was canceled. I think people tuned in for the first few episodes, hated what they were doing with the characters, and didn't give it a second chance.

What do you know? It's almost like Steve is right.

Also, Piggy's hair was on point like whoa.
