I'm wondering if it's a response to the stuff you see on the internet sometimes with people going on about how they're all introverted and needing time to themselves and whatnot?

Even then, though, introverted people still do go outside sometimes, so...yeah. I dunno.

And explaining introversion isn't automatically a condemnation of people who are outgoing ffs.

Very true. I'm an introverted sort and yet so many of my family and friends are very outgoing sorts. And even then, they may be outgoing in some situations and more quiet and reserved in others. It doesn't always have to be "strictly introvert versus strictly extrovert"-some people can be a combination of both, and their behavior can depend on the situation they're in as well.

I'm an introvert and like being outdoors. I don't know where the introvert=indoors person comes from, except that a lot or people who make those introvert memes that are all over facebook seem to have confused it with agoraphobia and social anxiety.

And really, sometimes it's easier to be alone outside. Those memes all seem to assume everyone lives alone. I live with other people, and they can get overwhelming (being drunk, yelly, never shutting up) so I go for walks outside to get away from them. Hardly anyone talks to me outside.

Yeah, for whatever reason, people just tend to assume if you want to be alone for a while, you're likely to stay inside, 'cause...I guess there's rooms you can hide out in or something? And being outside generally means having to deal with other people around, whether you actually talk to them or not. I think you're absolutely right about people getting introverted behavior confused with those other issues.

You also make a great case for why being outdoors can bring its own peace and quiet. I've been able to wander around outside without anyone bothering me, too. And there's specific places that people can escape to outdoors that can give somebody their much needed alone time as well-the backyard, a quiet little spot by a riverbank or in a park, whatever.
