Governors and corrupt local governments who have long been more or less unquestioned warlords in their little sandboxes will now be investigated by the federal government. Elections will be held under supervision from federal workers, not the locals in power.

Get the brands out of schools. Locals should have a say in what their children eat. This might include a say on the menu, putting an emphasis on local foods or foods that hold special meanings to the people in the area, and reasonable accommodation regarding what counts as a meal--aka actually enough to eat, and not fake food. Food should be MADE, not bought packaged from big business.

Food waste will be reduced. Food that is rejected by grocery chains for not being pretty enough will either reach another market, such as schools, or be given to those in need. We do not waste food in this country that way anymore, not while people are hungry.

Sugar and corn shouldn't be subsidized. That hasn't really made anybody any healthier. GMO isn't mindlessly accepted and foisted off on people who are wary about the health implications. It isn't banned, but it IS subject to regulations from outside the industry, and labeling.

Children have some say in their schooling. They are not allowed to be graded poorly for questioning things. Testing cannot remain the sole determination of grades. Learning to think, not just do as one is told, should be paramount. Learning skills for life, whether that be with apprenticeships or simply balancing a checkbook, need to be incorporated into current schooling practices. An opportunity for unstructured exercise needs to continue past middle school for all students.

For-profit bottling companies will not make use of public water.

Every effort will be made to support the nurturing of currently active and newly formed cooperatively owned businesses entering the capitalistic fray, where workers who have a vested interest in the company will have a say, not just CEOs or board members. These companies offer better long term stability and better employment opportunities than strictly top-down structures that can be sold on a whim.

Reform of the current foster care system, with emphasis being placed on protection of children and avoiding creating attachment disorders, situations whether children are subject to more abuse or re-traumatizing, needless moving around, too-early removal of support, and further complicated issues that seem to go unchecked in the current system.

Hate crimes from white people are actually prosecuted.

Guns are not sold to anyone who is documented as abusive or has a history of mental health issues. Guns that do not have adequate locks to keep them from going off in children's hands are not allowed to be sold. If guns are carelessly left in a place where children or criminals can find and use them, the owners of the crimes will bear some criminal responsibility.

Reform sexual education so and offer free birth control options to both men and women.

One last thing I forgot to add. Space for community gardens in every city, neighborhood, and township must be legally required and protected. This land cannot be sold to developers, strictly owned by anyone, or used for non-growing purposes. If people choose to garden with it, or grow flowers, or keep chickens, all of that is legal. Some tax money will be allocated to the purchase of tools and seeds. But there needs to be a place where everyone is legally allowed to work the soil, plant something, and harvest what they grow.

+1

I'm wowed by the amount of thought put into this and attention to issues I wasn't even aware of. I'd gladly live in the alternative universe where you're in charge.

Thank you for your kind words. I've had a lot on my mind lately. I hope some of these things will change in my life time, although I doubt they all will...

*bows* Thank you for your support. :)
I think it's safe to say I've had a lot of issues on my mind lately. Reading over the list, it's even more extensive than I realized.
I hope some of these things will happen in my lifetime, but I suspect there's a long way to go for most of them, even the more realistic ones.
