I agree and this is why I don't care at all if sex in fanfic and porn is "unrealistic".

It's fiction and a fantasy, and only the completely naive assume this is how it works in reality. And, only the pretentious and willfully judgey assume that every creator writes or draws fantasy sex because "they just don't know better".

You want traces of poop in your anal? Go for it, but expecting it to be everyone's preference or attempting to educate people about "realistic sex" as if they aren't aware is naive at best.

I really, really wish I hadn't been naive and read so much smutfic in the lead-up to my first sexual experiences. When writing a blowjob, handjob, or any other sex scene, I often feel like I'm either too much about the feelings (and end up a little vague on the actual mechanics) or I'm too much about the mechanics (and end up like a step-by-step manual). I just get too all up in my head about it sometimes. But, yeah, even with the step-by-step thing, there's a lot that gets left out, which I think is fine. Sometimes too much realism and detail anywhere can really kill the flow of a story.

I feel sort of the opposite. The way most fic writers write porn makes it pretty clear they haven't had much, if any sex. And if they have fucked, they either aren't very good in bed, or are so used to the porn writing tropes that they write THAT instead of pulling from their own experiences. The emotional element is usually there in fic, but everything else being so awful just pulls me right out of it. I screen out all explicit fic these days cause I just can't bear the same old tropes again and again.

I'm with you on the vocal appreciation, always wondered if that was because of fanfic in the first place. I've met a few guys that were pretty talkative and learned that even the quiet ones would usually make noise if I asked, one even said he thought people got annoyed by it and still gets self-conscious sometimes. Also you can always alternate, take breaks, etc.
