I really dislike a lot of the common YA tropes (paranormal romance, love triangles, teenage angst, etc etc) but I also hate when critics write off the entire category as a whole. Elitism about genres needs to die in general. The fact that you read books about adults without magic instead of paranormal teens does not make you a better person, ffs.

^ This. I'm not averse to reading YA at all, but a lot of the common tropes are not my thing.
