I still don't like the phrase "throw shade."

God, this! Mainly what I hate about it is that I feel like it lends itself way too easily to over-use. Words like "feud" or "attack" or even "criticism" and "dis" require that there actually BE a feud/attack/criticism/dis. Whereas "shade" is this thing that is so subjective and vague that you can literally just SAY someone "shaded" someone else and even when they didn't actually dis them in any way, it's hard to conclusively prove they didn't "throw shade." So now it's every celeb gossip site on the internet's favorite term, because all they have to do is use it in their heading and they've got instant clickbait. All it does is give their readers permission to believe some totally fabricated juicy celeb drama just went down.
