Controlled exposure to triggers -- key word controlled -- is a legitimate therapeutic technique. And that's what you did, by choosing when to temporarily unhide these posts, and how long to leave them available before re-hiding them.
If the Tumblr purity brigade hadn't existed, you could've found other places with triggering content and used the same technique there. So they truly don't deserve any credit. This was all you.

(Anonymous) 2017-08-19 02:33 am (UTC)(link)I utterly understand that age gaps like that can bother people so I would never post things like that without proper tags. Personally, like dub-con and non-con I've seen 'underage/teenage' and 'extreme underage' to describe the 14-17 range and the under 14 range. The term underage didn't ever bother me, so like avoiding the word rape for non-con to avoid potentially triggering those survivors. Also because for me at least there's a huge difference between 17 and 7 so lumping them all in under the same term seems a little wrong. Same as if in the real world a lot of dub-con would still be rape, fandom draws a line between the two in fiction.
But it's things like I used to read tons of Gundam Wing fic and being told I was worse than a real life criminal because I used to ship 3x4 and will still ship things with fictional characters like them really messed with my head for a long time. I mean, even if it's total crap it's easy to victim blame yourself and wonder what if they're right?
In the real world there's a lot of stuff that would very much be unhealthy, or would potentially be really unhealthy. But like yesterday's discussion of erotica being better when it's not 100% realistic I'm ok with no surprise poo in my fictional anal sex or a fictional teenager and a fictional young adult having a healthy fictional relationship.

(Anonymous) 2017-08-19 05:09 am (UTC)(link)I'm all for people hating on underage pairings or pairings with large age gaps if they want to hate-- I can't stop them. Hell I hate on some of those pairings myself. It's the bizarre jump between fiction and reality that is scary.
