And have you had any periods in your life, post 2010s, where you've gone with out it?

This includes smartphones, obviously.

Too much because I don't like where I live.

The internet is my life right now since I'm job searching. So right now a whole lot. There have been periods where I've only been on an hour or two a day. The only time I ever go without, though, is when I'm away from an internet connection such as a previous family reunion.

Too much right now between job hunting and car hunting.

Looking for a second job so quite a lot of time right now, nearly everywhere where I live takes applications online now. I went through town with a folder full of CV's before I got my current job and all but two places told me to go online.

Also I fall way too easily into the Youtube timesink trap.

Maybe eight hours a day. It used to be more, but there's no signal where I work, so I can't go online during breaks. When the recession hit, we had to cut a bunch of stuff and the internet was one of them. I went three years without a reliable internet connection and could only use it on the weekends when we went to the library.

In 2010 I had to go stay in this small town for about 2 months for work and the place we stayed had no working wifi. I had to go to the town library to get online, but the library was only open after 5 one weekday and was closed on Sundays, so I could only go Saturdays and that one weekday evening, assuming I could shower and hustle over there fast enough. It was frustrating because I had no other way to send email, even about work (I had a cell - not a smart one - so at least I could call the office). I don't remember it being the worst thing ever or anything. The town was really boring, though, and it was a long drive to anywhere interesting, so internet would have helped with that. I had to keep reminding myself that it wasn't so long ago that people doing my job would have had no internet access at all on the road and no cell phones, either.

I spend hours and hours on the internet. Maybe even eight like the poster above.

I've never gone without it for more than a couple of weeks. All my friends are online and I hate not having the net at my fingertips.

(I'm not saying that this is a positive thing - I wish I had a life apart from the internet, but... it is what it is.)

The longest I've gone without it is probably a week, for like holidays and stuff where I can't always access it(depending on where I've gone).

I don't know as far as actual amounts of time, but a lot. I have a lot of downtime at work, so on days when my coworker isn't there (when she is we talk during slow periods) I'm always online when I don't have anything else to do, generally looking at news news, entertainment news, a few subreddits I like, and a couple random sites I follow.

I spend a lot of time outside of work online, too, although it's usually for a specific purpose rather than just wasting time like when I'm at work (researching some thing I want to buy, online shopping, reading reviews/looking for recs of books to read, looking for more info on some topic I'm interested in, etc.)

The only times I've gone without semi-recently are when I was petsitting for my parents (who live in the middle of nowhere and don't have internet) but they don't have pets anymore so I haven't done that in awhile.

Uh. Hm. I guess most of the time when I'm not asleep.

Sometimes I'll get a new book or video game and then I'll be that time offline.

...I should probably get new books more often.

I usually have my browser open from around 10-11am to whenever I go to bed (anywhere from midnight to 3am) but I'm not perpetually in front of it that whole time. It's so I can respond to work email as soon as I see it, look up reference pictures/patters/tutorials, and listen to music on youtube or shoutcast while I work. The only time I'm actively internetting is from after dinner till bedtime.

Haven't gone without for significant times (maybe 2 weeks on a holiday). As for how much, i might browse up to 2 hours at work. Then anywhere between 1/2 an hour and a few hours after work. Usually not being productive andcwould like to do less.
