There's been a lot of drama and extremists on both sides, which is kind of the problem...? I don't want people to jump to the conclusion that I'm a crazy 'nothing' fan. I guess I'm worrying too much about what hypothetical people think of me but... there's been a lot of wank expended already, I don't wanna get caught up in more.

Well, really? People jump to conclusions all the time, and if they're going to be like that, whatever. A lot of the wank has died down because people have opinions, they've expressed them, and now folks are just settling down to writing fic for a closed canon, rather than fighting over said canon.

I saw in your comments elsewhere that you were a Remus/Sirius person and I want to say, lots of folks like to blame dislike of canon on a shipper not getting their ship, which is really frustrating. I was a H/Hr shipper (fanon, not canon) and while H/G in particular wasn't a trope I particularly like, I wanted JKR to sell me on it, and she really didn't. I have good friends who were all about the H/G and couldn't wait for it who were bitterly disappointed. In the end, I was glad that I didn't like many of the canon ships, because JKR can't write romance at all. There are a lot of reasons to not be down with the Remus/Tonks that aren't "because Remus/Sirius didn't happen." After all, they aren't mutually exclusive—he didn't get with Tonks until Sirius died!

Jump into that remus sirius comm you were linked to, have some fun with likeminded people, and don't worry about someone thinking you're one of the "crazy ones." That's just the view from outside, and could be said about pretty much any fandom.
