I think there's a difference between someone saving people and a white person saving the enslaved non whites or something.

Wasn't the point of the scene in this pic that Dany thought she was saving them but actually started messing things up almost immediately because she didn't understand how to work with the culture? It's a deconstruction of the white savior trope really.

Nitpicky but technically more of a subversion than a deconstruction. Other than that agreed though.

I think it was intended as that although I'm not sure they got their point across effectively.

I think it's possible to feel glad for characters while realising that the writing is problematic. The solution is to consume more media were people are saved by other means, not trying to stop enjoying things you've already discovered.

I'm with you, OP. One of my favorite tropes is people being g saved, protected, or healed. I secretly kind of enjoy even the more cringy stuff a lot of the time

I feel the same. I get why it looks bad, but seeing heroes doing things I wish I could but never will always works for me.

Well, the issue people have with the white savior trope isn't just that the hero/heroine is white and everything else is hunky dory, it's that the role race plays makes the "saving" part kind of dodgy because it comes with a lot of racist baggage. I personally prefer my heroism without racist baggage.
