Flying would also suck for people like me with vertigo and/or a fear of heights. I'd never actually use the power even if I had it because I'd get sick every time. Planes are bad enough.

That is a FANTASTIC story idea. People with superpowers that can't use them because it triggers a phobia...

I always wonder in scifi how no one ever seems to have a fear of heights or vertigo. Maybe they have treatments, but some of the ones really make me think that there must be some very miserable people in this universe.

What if it was less flying (because you'd need wings, right?) and more floating? You could just kind of skim along a few feet from the ground. I'm not afraid of heights but I hate turbulence and roller-coasters and bumpy roads; if I hit an unexpected thermal updraft while flying I'd probably puke.
