Pokemon

FS Pokefans, what are your current Pokemon teams and/or favorite Pokemon? Are there any Pokemon you think are underrated, or really like to use but aren't really viable competitively?

(For me, Articuno is my favorite of the Kanto legendary birds but also generally considered the worst competitively.)

Articuno was always my favorite legendary bird, too! She's so elegant looking! I also loved Moltres, who seems to be the least popular. I guess I don't like Zapdos's design much, he just looks like a bunch of sharp squiggles. (felt the same about Jolteon, the aesthetic of making the electric Pokemon just super sharp was always unappealing to me)

As a kid I absolutely LOVED Rattata/Raticate. I think it was my favorite Pokemon. It had quite a bit to do with the fact that I had pet rats... but I legit trained my Raticate to level 99 without using a Gameshark, and would continuously solo it through the Elite 4. Prooobably not actually competitive. I also loved Meowth, as a cat fan. Evidently Persian was actually one of the very best Pokemon in Red/Blue since it had a high speed and learned Slash, back when Speed determined Crit rate, Persian could constantly crit using Slash and demolish everything. I'm a little bummed that Persian isn't competitive anymore, either.

Then again, while I think competitive players are awesome, reducing it all to numbers and stats would ruin the magic for me. I like Pokemon for the atmosphere and imagination, not just for the battling.

I haven't played since gen 2 and was never competitive but my favorite pokemon as a kid were Sudowoodo, Snorlax, Hoothoot, and Arcanine. Those are some good pokemon IMO.

Munna is my favourite pokemon ever but pretty much useless for my playstyle.

I just started a new game in Sun/Moon and am doing an all-ghost run. My team atm is: Chandelure, Gengar, Drifblim, Doublade, Mismagius, and I'm looking for a Mimikyu now. Chandelure is my favourite, but not the strongest in battle which makes me sad...

I don't give a shit about the meta game, but here are some teams for every region.

Kanto: Venusaur, Arcanine, Slowbro, Nidoking, Primeape, Parasect
Johto: Meganium, Ampharos, Houndoom, Politoed, Girafarig, Piloswine
Hoenn: Swampert, Mightyena, Breloom, Manectric, Camerupt, Grumpig
Sinnoh: Torterra, Staraptor, Luxray, Froslass, Skuntank, Gastrodon
Unova: Samurott, Vanilluxe, Galvantula, Mienshao, Beheeyem, Chandelure
Kalos: Greninja, Talonflame, Aegislash, Aurorus, Hawlucha, Goodra
Alola: Primarina, Alolan Raichu, Crabominable, Mudsdale, Salazzle, Mimikyu

Haunter has always been my absolute favourite and I'm not even sure why. I just have to have one in my team in every game and will never evolve it, lol. Also Scolipede, Marill, Lugia, Drifloon/Drifblim and Dragonair.

I really like Articuno's design, definitely.

All my starters are water types, but I always, ALWAYS have water starter + an electric type on my team. Also I hate that Arcanine is considered not very good as a competitive type. Wish he could learn dark-type moves outside of bite and thief (via TM) because I think he has a strong attack and would be really good at those. Same with Raichu, high speed, mediocre defense. :I

My teams so far:

Kanto: Blastoise, Raichu, Pidgeot, Marowak, Arcanine, Nidoqueen
Sinnoh: Empoleon, Luxray, Garchomp, Mismagius, Gallade, Rapidash (I'm still figuring out my team here)
Unova: Samurott, Stoutland, Excadrill, Liligant, Braviary, Zekrom

As for favorites: Squirtle (+evolutions) and Raichu have been my forever favorites, but Arcanine, Nidoqueen, Luxray, Garchomp, Stoutland, Liligant, Metagross and legendary Zekrom have won me over. If I had to make a 6pokemon team I'd definitely get any of those.
