additionally telling people to study the fundamentals without explaining what that entails is basically worthless

Look if you want to draw, it's incumbent on you to do the leg work. Someone says "study the fundamentals"? It's on you to figure out what that is. Take a class, read a book. Don't expect anyone to hand you shit just because you want it.

NAYRT but we're talking about people who are giving out advice here. the context is PEOPLE WHO ARE ALREADY GIVING OUT ADVICE. the particular piece of advice "study the fundamentals" isn't that useful on its own.

Clearly you've never met people who think there must be shortcuts to just about everything.

I'd say things like that are incredibly valuable tenets, but you're right, tossing them out as advice isn't any more helpful than telling someone that the way to achieve their fitness goals is to eat less and exercise more.
