So you don't think that women should be equal to men, OP?

You don't think there is a problem, in a society where men control the majority of the power (in pretty much every country on earth, men have a far higher percentage in positions of power in politics, the media, the corporate world... the list goes on) and therefore can wield it in ways that disadvantage women?

Don't you think society would be at it's most advantageous if men and women were equal? Have you considered the ways in which the patriarchy, in some ways, disadvantages men, also?

Also, in regards to representation in the media, only something like less than twenty percent of women were the lead in Hollywood films last year. Only a small percentage of women direct and write Hollywood films. You "don't care" about things like that, but it doesn't change the fact that it reflects a wider problem.

Are things improving? Yes, they are. Mainly because people are starting to recognise that things need improving and are slowly starting to change things. (The women's marches around the world were just awesome.) Men and women are starting to come together and are saying "This society is messed up, because half of its people are more disadvantaged than the other half and that needs to change." This means that other people will do the heavy lifting for you, OP, when it comes to trying to make society a better place.

In terms of the secret, is that Castiel's daughter?

I agree but I'm also 100000% sure I know exactly what the response is going to be and I wish there was some way for me to make money off that knowledge

Dude. I'm a feminist and I'll be a feminist until the day I die. But I too am increasingly frustrated with some of the things people are claiming under the feminist banner. It can range from ludicrous (the fucking patriarctic) to downright harmful in some cases (TERFs are a not insignificant presence). I know that that's not an accurate portrayal of the majority of feminists but for a lot of people that's the most visible side of feminism.

What I'm getting at is that it's possible to be against all the things you described i.e. pro-equality while still being anti feminism, the ideology.

(Anonymous) 2017-08-25 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
SA Or at least the perceived ideology.

(Anonymous) 2017-08-26 10:10 am (UTC)(link)
I know OP didn't, but I'd be pretty wary of anyone who calls themselves an anti-feminist. Not actively calling yourself a feminist to distance yourself from bullshit associated with it is one thing, but saying you're against it all together is another.

(Anonymous) 2017-08-25 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
This is exactly the response the OP was hoping to get by putting in that they're not a feminist, I think.

Your tone of condescension will surely change their mind. A+

(Anonymous) 2017-08-26 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Not AYRT, but if a person speaking informatively automatically comes across as condescending to you, that's your perception, not objective reality.

(Anonymous) 2017-08-26 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
So you don't think that women should be equal to men, OP?

(Anonymous) 2017-08-26 08:21 am (UTC)(link)
That's not condescension, that's bloody annoyance. And quite right too. Women died for the freedoms she takes for granted, and continue to die because of screwed up attitudes to women, and you have a go at the one who dares to point out the hypocrisy? Shame on you. Shame.

(Anonymous) 2017-08-26 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Shaming women will surely change their mind about feminism. A+

She is Castiel's daughter, yes.

(Anonymous) 2017-08-27 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
Castiel does not have a daughter. Claire's father is Jimmy Novak

*rolls eyes*
Oh, good gods.

Do you have a problem with canon facts? Cas does not have any children. Just because his vessel had a daughter, that doesn't mean she belongs to Castiel in any way.

Do you have nothing better to do than go back to old secret posts and be pedantic? Jayzus.

(Anonymous) 2017-08-29 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
DA -

How is this pedantic? Castiel and Jimmy Novak are two very different characters. And we've seen now, it IS possible in SPN canon for angels to have offspring. And Cas doesn't have any offspring! It's pointed out IN the show that he technically has no parental responsibility to her whatsoever, it's just his guilt over what happened to her ACTUAL father that makes him want to make sure she's okay.

To me, this isn't really a nit-picky point, it's kind of a key point. :/ *shrugs*
