I've got a new follower on Tumblr, and I've never had someone this pushy before. They begged me to write a fic based off one of my headcanon posts. I said I would as soon as my mental state stabilized. But they keep asking. Every day. And, argh. I can't write right now. I'm sorry. I feel bad, but you're getting annoying.

You shouldn't feel bad. That is really annoying and they're disregarding your needs. I wouldn't blame you if you blocked them if they kept asking. Interest and enthusiasm in your stuff doesn't excuse disregarding your needs as a person.

I know this probably seems obvious, but block them. The more they bug you, the more you are going to feel irritated and bad about something that you shouldn't feel bad about. People like that feel entitled to your time and won't be put off. I follow people who entertain people like that because they want to be nice to their fans, but it's honestly obnoxious. You can give them one last warning or block them right out, but they will likely need to be blocked.

They probably don't realize they are crossing a line and aren't going to stop being pushy.

Some people are clueless like that. I'd be firm and say that you've already noted the request and you'll consider it when you're feeling up to it and tell them straight up that asking you every day is inappropriate and rude and it won't make it happen any faster. If they give you any pushback at all, block them.

The fact that they keep pushing even after you've made them aware that you're not in a great headspace right now is really gross. I'd say either give them a firm warning that they're being incredibly disrespectful, or just go straight to blocking them. Your wellbeing comes first. I hope it works out one way or another. x

Honestly, if I were you I would just block them. I have no patience for that sort of thing. Blocking isn't the end of the world and it's not making you the bad guy. It would solve a load of your problems.

Block them. If they don't realize they're being too pushy, perhaps it will be a wakeup call.

If they've done this sort of thing to other writers before, perhaps a closed door will let them know that they can't always get their way by being a nuisance.

I'm going to be the differing voice here: have you actually told them that their behavior is stressing you out? Directly addressing them may be the best way to make it stop, without going through the drama of blocking-- and this way they might learn something. If not, then block without guilt.

Tell them that you will write the fic when you are ready, that their repeated requests are not helping you get your mental state back in order, and that if they ask again, you will block them.

If they ask again, block the fuck out of them.
