I always assumed people who said it similarly did it in your context OP. Rarely heard it used otherwise as makes no sense (okay, sure, maybe there is some statistical anomaly or it is an idiom in such and such area).

Really? You've never herd people reference something decadent with something like "and then you get diabetes!" Or "That's diabetes in a glass, right there!" Or "This (one particular item) is why you have diabetes, America!"

Anon you replied to: Heard it rarely said by parents to kids in the 90s as a cautionary tale. Never heard that said about America xD - the stereotype is mostly fat (not so much nowadays) or full of chemicals or cholesterol.

I mean, statistically eating like that leads to diabetes. It's not like it's a misnomer.

you must live in a very sheltered environment because people can't stfu about my diabetes even though it has nothing to do with what I eat. huh
