In general, anything associated with Atlus or Nippon Ichi that failed to get hype is interesting and unusual. Not necessarily good, but at least worth looking at.

I remember the first Neir game was just like... what is this thing? What is this thing with this awful cover in Best Buy? The only thing I'd seen mentioned about it on gaming blogs was that one character was a hermaphrodite, and... well, okay, yeah, that was it. That was the total extent of the coverage at the time as far as I can remember.

That was an awesome purchase.

Never heard about it until everyone had already seen it and was yammering on about how good it was.

John Carter was great. There should have been hype.

XX, a thoroughly creepy anthology of four short horror movies directed and written by women. Never heard of it till last night, thought it was great.

Did Megamind get much hype? I love Megamind, but I don't remember it getting as much hype as other Dreamworks films.

I have a huge soft spot for a horror anthology film called Southbound. I googled afterwards and pretty much every reviewer I found hated it or was kind of 'meh.' I thought it was supremely creepy and well-executed, and I say that as a bit of a horror geek. Really nicely shot as well and some imagery that will stay with mer forever.
