Whu? Domino was SUPER pale. Like deathly pale. I think Dom is just as stark a visual change as MJ. Maybe not as stark a visual change as Val, because she's so much shorter and MUCH less muscled than her comic counterpart, to I'll give you that, but going from Klan sheet white to dark skin, is a pretty big change.

Edit:

Oh, shit, you're talking about HAIR colour not skin colour. Ok, Yeah, I agree Dom had pitch black hair that has just become an afro now, yes I agree, less stark a contrast.

Also, with Momoa, I agree there is a stark change, but to be honest, I really don't care. I only ever like the brave and the bold Aqua man, and there was no chance we were getting him. I'm pretty happy with whatever they do to him, but MJ, Val and Dom, are all characters that I love - Or Loved. Fuck you Queseda.

Yeah, this is why I specified I wasn't talking about skin tones. From thematic perspective, Domino's actress is still pale enough to contrast starkly with the dark outfit she wears, so the visual theme of lighter skin, darker outfit, and the overall color scheme that is lacking vibrant color, is present. Original Domino's color scheme was mainly grayscale, and brown is not far from black - it would have been more of a stark change to suddenly make her a redhead and add vibrant color.

God that would have been horrible...

Yep. Ginger Domino would be terrible even if you kept her white. Blond white Domino would be terrible too.

On the other hand if you made her Asian or Latina and kept the color scheme that'd work fine.

Yeah, I can agree with that.

I really really don't love what they did with Val, tho. 8(

Me neither, to be honest.

I mean, on one hand, I am glad that POC are getting more roles in superhero things. It's about time. Like the Aquaman thing, it totally makes sense for him to be played by a Hawaiian, to the point where it's like, why wasn't he originally that all along, it makes so much more sense. On a meta level I'm happy to see it.

On the other hand, from a purely visual standpoint, it's not making me see the character I know of, so it's weird.

That's exactly it. I'm just not seeing Valkyrie here.
