I can see marrying someone I care about to protect or provide for them. But I'm pretty sure it would still be about love.

TBH I think trophy spouse is a very niche, asshole showing off kind of thing, even more than about sex, like rich person is saying look what I OWN, look what I BOUGHT. I could never feel that way about someone. If it was just sex with a hot person it would not necessarily involve marriage and the show offy element.
