Not a recent thing, but one that cheers me up on shitty days. I made an anime music video way back when I was an anime-obsessed teen, and the co-writer of the song I used got in touch with me and said that my video was "better" than the official one they made. I have no idea how he found it, and I'm pretty sure he was just being kind, but hey. Also their video was well-known at the time for being pretty terrible (even though the song was great) so the bar wasn't exactly high.

That's really cool! I made AMVs back in the day too.

The funniest story there was when a friend I recently met went "Wait, YOU made X video? I remember that video. I, uh... kind of hated it." and we both had a big laugh about it. It wasn't anything person why she hated it, and it was long enough ago I was not at all bothered by it.

Making AMVs was so much fun, I really miss it.
