I was working at Subway. I vaguely heard him mentioned on the radio but really couldn't hear what was being talked about. I come home and find I had 3 voicemails left by 3 different people regarding it.

That seems so weird to me. I couldn't imagine people I know calling to tell me someone I didn't know had died...

My sister texts me when a lot of celebrities die. But no one has ever called me. D:

I called two people to tell them John Lennon died, one of whom I didn't even know that well. (To answer the original question, I was at home watching television.)

Now I don't even know anyone I would feel the need to tell that a celebrity died, though I'll admit that's partly because the internet means people find out really quickly.

I was watching TV when John Lennon died. It was announced by Howard Cosell, which made it worse.

I can't remember who was announcing it. I think I was spared hearing it from Howard Cosell though.
