It's this (kinda racist) gotcha thing POC and ~self-critical~ white people have going. According to that, you're such a weak dumb little pussy if you come from a culture that doesn't strongly season/spice (to the point of overseason/overspice) their food and therefore aren't used to it (because oh hey, that's mostly central and northern Europe, perfect!). It'd equally silly because there are plenty POC who also don't enjoy/aren't used to food that's too hot, for example, but that's different somehow.
