It's not like subtlety is the hallmark of those shows to start with.

I don't know, it's cheesy and I don't love it but I'm not sure I want to yell at shows for being willing to take good political stands either.

The thought is nice, but the writing is bad.

It's not like nobody's ever said those words together before. It might seem hamfisted now, but I don't think anyone's going to associate that phrase with politics in a few years. It'll just sound like a regular insult.

Exactly what I was coming here to say. I have no idea if either show will stand the test of time, but if they do and someone is watching in the future, I don't think the immediate response will be to tie it to Trump. Those words have been said before and will be said again. It just feels more pointed and political because we have that immediate context. TBH, I follow politics somewhat and I didn't catch the line as being out of place in either show until I read recaps of them afterward. Neither show has amazing writing and (especially on Wynonna Earp) I thought the character(s) could have believably said it.

TBH they don't seem the kind of shows people are going to be rewatching for their wonderful writing or characterisation or whatever. They want to be relevant to their audience in the moment, and then they'll go into syndication and be background noise.

Men/Villians have been calling women 'nasty' for longer than the 2016 election. Look up Janet Jackson's 'Nasty Girl' in the 80's.
