I love "The Crown", but the very-obvious-prelude-to-a-blowjob scene in S1 unsettled me. Thinking about the Queen having sex is a it like thinking about your parents having sex - I mean obviously it's a thing that happens/ has happened, but not something I want to imagine in any detail.

For the record and what it's worth, I'm not even particularly enthusiastic about the monarchy. It's just.... no.

I just think it's kind of ... in bad taste to do a show like this while the people depicted are still alive. Seems kind of skeevy to me.

I think if you're royalty you're kind of public property, and goodness knows they've had worse.

Rumour has it that the Queen enjoyed it and watched it with some of the family. I have no idea if that's actually true or not, but it's hilarious and mind-boggling to imagine the awkwardness...

Yup. Although I can at least imagine the queen as a younger woman without feeling any dissonance. Probably because she's on all the money. Philip is, and has always only ever been an old man to me. It ain't wholesome, I tell you.

Hah! Yes. You're right, you see pictures of the queen as a young woman all the time, but they're usually formal portraits where she's alone.

Though I went looking for pictures of him in his youth, and he wasn't bad looking as a young man, albeit a bit goofy in profile. He's aged spectacularly badly, though.

I can also see why they cast Matt Smith:
