I hope it gets there. It seems like it should have a good chance, since they're so much a thing in the comics. And really I hope the fandom as a whole gets there - it felt like one of those series where I could see almost any combination of characters as a legitimate ship.

But I also feel like it's going to be limited by the fact that it's a team-up show, and people are just going to hold onto their ships from the original shows rather than going deep on new and exciting shipping combinations.

It's got the makings for a pretty decent ship tbh, I may not be the biggest fan of Danny but his scenes with Luke had me smiling most of the time, hopefully we'll get to see more of them working together and becoming good friends(and hey maybe a fandom will spring up from that?).

I think it would be possible if fandom wasn't carrying emotional baggage from the Iron Fist series. But as it is, Danny is treated as a joke at best. I think most people wouldn't write fic because they can no longer take him seriously, and the people who would want to write fic would be scared to because its "problematic" elements could lead to them getting backlash from the rest of fandom. :(

TV Danny annoys the shit out of me except when he's with Luke, so maybe other people feel the same?

Luke/Danny/Jessica shows up a lot as a background pairing in stories I read, and I'm kind of hoping the Netflix fandom embraces that, although I'll admit it's a lot harder sell in this universe. It was so satisfying to actually watch Luke and Danny bonding onscreen after so many years of waiting for it, though.
