Because I, frankly, don't trust them. The other anon addressed another thing I'm leery of. Because of a trend in media where female protags are outshined by their white, male companions who tend to also be their romantic interest. Telling me to just "wait and see" and not be leery or untrusting because of a trend in media is like saying you should wait and see if that puss-filled boil will go away on its own instead of being leery and complaining to a doctor.

Examples? Because hand on heart, I cannot think of a single BBC programme that has done that recently, nor any British programme for that matter.
