(Anonymous) 2017-08-30 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)Though yes, I am old. So I can compare fandom on Usenet(!), private message boards, Tumblr, Reddit, LJ, and IMDB boards. And I can tell you for a fact that private message boards are the best. The are the most flexible, easiest to use, most user-friendly, and easiest to get to know other members of your fandom, and easiest to block things you don't want to see.
IMDB boards were second best, LJ third, Usenet fourth, Reddit fifth, and Tumblr is dead last. It's the worst platform in every way. It has almost no redeeming value.
