Games, TV, Movies, Books. Book series would be real nice. Literally anything. I can live with steam punk, cyber punk, space opera, anything.

I have a scientific interest in sexy badass female pirates in particular, but please don't let that limit the recs.

Skies of Arcadia is literally all about Air Pirates, and a great JRPG to boot. Easy to get for the Dreamcast, the GC re-release is better in a lot of ways but costs a bomb.

FFXII doesn't have a whole lot of sky pirate stuff, but the two best characters in the game (Balthier and Fran) are sky pirates, and they have a cool airship. The player avatar character, Vaan (calling him the main character would be a bit of a stretch) dreams of being one, too. The sequel, FFXII: Revenant Wings (which is for the DS), has more sky pirate stuff in it, and the airship is pretty cool, too.

You might also like Skyborn, which you can get on Steam. It's a pretty fun game from what I recall (I beat it years ago and haven't played it since).

The Edge Chronicles is pretty much all sky pirates all the time.

Pros: creative world-building, economies, governments, cultures, and nation/city-states that change and grow over time (there are a couple of time skips that are absolutely fascinating because of this; the author has a very firm grasp on how short a time it takes for a civilization to change dramatically with just the right push), Chris Riddell illustrates the whole darn thing

Potential con: written for ages 9-12, so not much in the way of sexy.
