You know, taking it seriously for a moment, I think it's not so much age as fandom-age. You stay in fandom a long time you recognize patterns, you have stuff to compare and contrast to, you see stuff play out. You start to recognize what fosters toxic behavior.

So things like them screaming that if you ship something problematic you support IRL problematic behavior? We laugh our asses off because shows about friendship and tolerance and good behavior like My Little Pony and Steven Universe attract some epicly hateful people. We have the fandom life experience to look at that and go "Welp, that's bullshit."

I say this too because I've met some 30-40 year old babyfans who were every bit as obnoxious as any of you kids and act just the same. Heck, sometimes worse because they believe their non-fandom experience should translate to fandom experience and they should already know everything.
