"God never gives you anything you can't handle." WTF does that even mean? I mean I know what it's supposed to mean but it's so obviously not true.

Yep, same. I hate most empty religious phrases like that, such as "God works in mysterious ways" or saying that recently deceased people are "in a better place now". It's just meaningless white lies people tell themselves pretend that something shitty might not be shitty or to try and feel better.

I was actually talking to someone today who mentioned the "in a better place" thing. If they're in a better place, why pray for people not to die? Shouldn't you want them to die? But unless someone is in incurable pain no one would ever do that.
