very generally speaking, yes. the body does treat different types of food differently though. a long term diet of high sugar foods have a different impact on your body esp w/r/t insulin and whatnot than a long term diet of high protein foods, even if the same calories are ingested

to be more specific: you can't simply say "barring any underlying health issues" because certain types of calories (esp. processed sugars) are the things that cause the health issues
