Bacon is best with the fat fully rendered out and crispy.

Also, french fries cooked in saved up bacon grease are the best fries.

Bacon should be cooked to the point of the fat being golden-brown and just slightly crisp, so it melts in your mouth. 'Hard' bacon that shatters when you bite it is a waste of time and effort.

This. I tend to overcook bacon a bit by many people's standards, because I buy cheap bacon, so I have to cook it longer to cook the fat enough. But if I ever cook it to the point it actually crumbles I'm really disappointed.
