But it has so much *more* taste! A little crisp, sweet-tart, a more firm texture...delicious!

It does depend on the banana though. Cavendishes are kind of crap in the taste department compared to other breeds.

I'll take my bananas as brown as possible without the skin becoming part of it (though I hear it can be nutritious to eat the cooked skin of organic bananas). Sweeter, and with more antioxidants.

I can't even abide the *smell* of the ripening banana. It's just so gross. I've never had any other type of banana - not a lot of choices here.

I see the plantains, red bananas, and teeny yellow bunches in the store... I've had fried plantain, and another kind of banana when I was a kid, but not much else.

Underripe bananas do the same "I just ate a spoonful of alum and my mouth is gonna dry out, shrivel up, and fall off" thing that unripe persimmons do, only less extreme and with added chalky texture. No thanks.

You must have eaten one grass-green. I've never had that happen.

I *have* bit into an unripe persimmon - so not fun!
