I do agree, it just gets in the way of the filling. I also resent ricepaper rolls that have mayo in them, because it really just ruins the fresh salad flavour. Besides, ricepaper rolls are not Japanese, but I do often see them being sold by sushi shops. I think they should stay firmly in Vietnamese shops, with owners who get them right.

(Yes, I'm picky about ricepaper rolls.)
