Re: Favorite Youtubers?
Captain Sauce - A Let's Player who I found due to his long-running Sims 4 series "Life of Kevin". He's pretty personable and makes fun commentary.
Binging With Babish - Does cooking videos based on foods in movies and TV.
Cocktail Chemistry - Similar to Babish but specifically alcoholic cocktails.
Simply Nailogical - Cristine is quite amusing and her nail art is interesting to see.
Geography Now - A series giving profiles about countries around the world. It's going in alphabetical order and is currently up to Ireland. "Flag Friday" does a profile of what a country's flag and coat of arms mean, plus that show has a mail-opening section. Barby is quite personable as a host.
Sid Alpha - I have no clue why I follow him, except it's interesting to hear about some of the shady crap that happens in the gaming world.
Anakin The Two Legged Cat - Doesn't post often, but is primarily videos about a cat born with no back legs or hips but is quite mobile on the two legs he does have.
TinyKittens HQ - A cat rescue who does live feeds of cats they have rescued and are socialising.
Today I Found Out - Random facts videos.
Gavin Webber - An Aussie who makes cheese.
GoodBadFlicks - has a backlog of reviews of old movies that have ended up being widely considered "bad". Also does reviews of new movies, and favours horror movies.
Horror Show Comics - Narrates horror stories. I am mostly a viewer for Junji Ito stories.
Liana K - Gamer lady who got a lot of crap through Gamergate for being on the other side to the likes of Sarkeesian. Talks about current events, gaming, SJWism and poltics.
Lindsey Ellis - I.E. the Nostalgia Chick. Still does media reviews, though not frequently.
Paweł Zadrożniak - Does music on a collection of old computer hardware called the "Floppotron" - made up of a bank of floppy disk drives, opened hard drives, two printers, all linked up to a computer.
miracleofsound - Does original music pieces based on games, movies, TV shows etc.
Facts - Sometimes jokingly called "Irish Buzzfeed", but they don't dig far into politics the way Buzzfeed did. Mostly taste-testing, watching shows, and other fun games.
FBE and REACT - The Fine Brothers' channels. Reaction videos.
DontTrustTheRabbit - German woman discussing German culture and language.
Wanted Adventure - American woman living in Germany giving her opinions of German culture and comparisons to American culture. She and DontTrustTheRabbit have collaborated several times.
Whatculture - They have at least three channels that do videos about intersting facts about various media, including movies, games and comics.
Web DM - Discusses Dungeons and Dragons.
Rob Czar, Corinne Leigh, ThreadBanger - Husband a wife duo test cooking and craft projects found online.
Rosanna Pansino - Does a cooking show called "Nerdy Nummies", which is mostly baking sweets based on media inspirations.
Miss Misa
Mae Dominguez
ThyNameIsSkepticism
Irate Bear
Omegon
SugarTits
Peach Bailie
Roaming Millennial
Hi, I Think I'm Real
Jeff Holiday
lacigreen
Blaire White
Sargon of Akkad
Anti-SJW, Anti-Feminist channels.
Jordan B Peterson - Professor of evolutionary psychology, came to fame for objecting to a personal pronoun law in Canada. His Psychology of Biblical Stories series is quite fascinating.
Re: Favorite Youtubers?
Today I Found Out is a little moreish, isn't it? I wound up losing a whole afternoon to that channel.
Liana Kerzner is someone I agree with a lot, and someone who I am glad is doing what she does... but after a while I kinda started to find her personality abrasive. Still Like the topics she covers and I end up agreeing with her more than I disagree, but I could live without that fucking Feedback Friday song she does, Ugh.
What culture is another one that's a time bandit. I'll start watching them then I've lost 3 hours of my day. I could live without that fucking hashtag joke, tho.
Is Omegon the one that does the Overwatch animated web comics?
I liked sugartits videos, but they make my feminist girlfriend very very angry, so I don't get to listen to much of her.
Roaming Millenial is a neat channel. And she's very attractive too. That never hurts.
I've actually started watching more of Laci's stuff. I don't like it any better now than I used to, but the whole thing with Laci's recent shitshow should show that it doesn't do to only listen to people who you agree with.
Sargon is where I personally draw the line. I get why he's popular, I get why I'm supposed to watch him in my circles, but honestly, I just find him a little reactionary, he makes logical leaps that go beyond what a """"Skeptic"""" should be confortable making, and he's a bit more mean spirited for me to enjoy.
Since you and me have some 'tubers in common, so let me throw in a couple of recs for you:
Shoe - always makes me laugh.
Just thinking out loud - Love her accent.
Chris Ray Gun - Hardest belly laughes I've had in a while.
My Name Is Josephine - I tend to agree with her. Plus she's very pretty.
Aydin Paladin is a little more right of centre than I usually like, but she's pretty funny with it, and I have learned some actually useful stuff.
Jordan B Peterson kinda rubs me the wrong way in the same way as Richard Dawkins. I get why he's popular, and I kinda think "Good for him" sticking to his guns, but I just get the "Smug know-it-all-and-I'm-better-than-you" vibe from him. Nothing I can put my finger on, just the guy bugs me.
Re: Favorite Youtubers?
On Laci, i think I came to think better of her after her "redpill" videos. I think she is still leaning on the Accepting Feminist side, but I think she is a bit closer to the "Anti" side now than she used to be.
I love listening to SugarTits and Peach both because they feel more like home for me, as an Australian. Sometimes it's just great to listen to your own accent, and frankly Aussie accents are not hugely common on Youtube. That's one of the reason why I started watching Dael too, but I also like her content.
I kinda see what you mean with Sargon, there's been a few incidents where he's pushed back at his critics and opponents where I feel he does go too far. Trying to get Anita banned at VidCon, fights on Twitter like the one with Chrisiosity, and now the one he's got a lawsuit over - individually they didn't seem bad, but when you see three events it starts to look like a pattern.
One of Anti-SJW types I have started to get really tired of is Andy Warski. I feel like his style is getting a bit old for me.
I do feel Jordan B Peterson doesn't have quite as much "I'm-better-than-you" than Dawkins, but maybe that's looking at it from my religious angle. Dawkins is well known for practically treating people like they are gullible idiots for being religious, while I don't get that feeling from Peterson, especially with the Bible series. Maybe that is why I can give him a pass.
Re: Favorite Youtubers?
I dont know how I feel about the Sargon lawsuit, to be honest. It's certainly on the edge of what I'd call fair use, but I wonder if it was someone who was less... snipey, if I'd be more on his side.
Oh, Warski is super grating to me. I still watch him, and I like his general themes, and I agree with some of this stuff he's bringing up, but his persona can be a bit draining.
Oh, Jordan B Peterson is not even in the same LEAGUE as Dawkins, I hope that I didn't come across as saying that, I just find him tricky to watch because of some... je ne sais quoi that reminds me of Dawkins.
