silverfish oh my god

hate them. Along with ants and mosquitoes, they are the only bugs I kill on purpose.

Silverfish are the one critter I get in my home that I can't stand. I get spiders, but I don't care about spiders. They eat other bugs and aren't really pests (at least not around here, since we don't have poisonous ones). Siverfish, though? They can fuck off and die.

Flies if they are in my room. Gnats outside when in clouds.

Fire ants.

Fuck fire ants.

Agreed. Ants in general, but especially fire ants. I'm glad I'm not in Houston. I don't think I could face the fire ants.

Ticks. Stick-tight fleas. Bedbugs. Botflies. Tapeworms. Whatever the fuck those nightmare worms that have to be wound out of a person's leg on a stick are, but at least there's eradication programs going for them. Bullet-ants, not because I've experienced them personally (not that I've had tapeworms or the waterborne leg stick worm nightmare or botflies but...) but because they're at the top of the bugbite pain scale.

Guinea worms? I think that's what they're called. If I recall correctly, Jimmy Carter's foundation is doing the eradication program.

Ticks are the worst. They give you horrible diseases.

So do mosquitos and tsetse flies and fleas and, well, a lot of biting insects are disease and parasite vectors.

Ants. I hate ants so damn much. I stepped on a red ant nest as a kid and got bit a whole bunch, and ever since ants have scared me more than any other bug (at least when they are swarming). Fire ants are probably the worst, but just ants in general.

Cockroaches. There aren't many breeds that don't make my skin crawl.

As a pet-owner, fleas. Fuck them. Every time we manage to rid the house of them one of the cats will go to someone else's house on our street (we have a lot of cat owners here) and pick them right up again.

Wasps. I know all the stuff about 'just leave them alone and they'll leave you alone' but I've lost count of the times I've crossed the street to get away from one only for it to fucking teleport in front of my face. I really admire people who don't get freaked out by them. I was on the bus once and this old lady smiled at me and said "there's a wasp in your hair, dear!" and fucking plucked it out with her bare hand and tossed it out the window. Hardcore.

Wasps and bees terrify me. They are a very close second to ants for the worst bug for me. I've only been stung once, on my big toe (at the pool, got in my shoe, put my shoe on). I've gotten very good at avoiding them over the years. My terror has saved me stinging, I think.

the "leave them alone" business can work with bees but wasps are aggressive little fuckers and it doesn't work with them. Also they can sting you more than once, unlike bees.

The problem with fleas is not one I have, but one my Mum has - she has allergies to a lot of insect bites which can make her itchy as hell. Fleas were always an issue for her.

House centipedes. Those bitches will drop from ceilings and walls right on you!
