I think that could be a pretty natural thing? If someone posts that something nice happened to them, it's tougher to think of something meaningful to say, like "yay that happened"? Everyone smiles and moves on? If it's someone I'm not already close to, it'd feel weird to leave a drive-by comment like that.

On the other hand if someone is sad, comforting things are much easier to think of plus you feel like you should help or can help someone, it's much more immediate with things you as a reader can do.

Unless they're also ignoring you any time you want to talk about a show or something?

Yeah, basically. I understand why posts about walking my dog don't get comments, but I try to mix it up with fandom posts and more conversational things people should have some response to. They ignore them.

AYRT - I've only noticed one of them comment when other people are venting too. The exception being a fandom discussion a few years ago. (I remember because old wank was involved and she mentioned a friend of mine - nothing to do with anything, just why I remember.)
