I watched the first few seasons of Psych and I enjoyed it but Shawn was annoying. I liked how Gus had a life though and didn't always put up with Shawn's shit. But yeah I would much rather hang out with Gus than Shawn.

(I shipped them though...)

It varies a lot. Shawn can definitely be annoying at times but I think in the better seasons, it's a lot more muted and realistic, and also funnier. Whereas the first season is uhhhhh not so much.

Ugh. I hate Shawn so, so much. He is everything I find repulsive. I could never watch the show because of him.

I tried watching from S1 and found Shawn very off-putting sometimes. Even though his dad's an ass and he probably gets some of it from him, it's still ... yeah.

I did hear Shawn gets better in S2+ but still. :\

Yeah, Shawn's personality can be very off-putting at times

I know he's supposed to be sort of an escapist character and all, but the way he drags other people like Gus along into cases despite him not wanting to be apart of it can be extremely grating

Same thing with me. I loved the other characters but when the lead is that grating it eventually becomes to painful to sit through. Both Gus and Juliet deserved better.

So very much agreed. I adored Gus and his nerdiness and his uptightness and I liked everyone else in the show, but I wanted someone to tone Shawn down so much.

Then again, a toned-down Shawn might not have elicited such wonderful responses from Gus.

Still, I often didn't watch the series because of Shawn's over the top-ness.
