My RL friends are fannish, too. We visit each other, meet up after work to go to restaurants and the movies, help each other when someone's moving, go to festivals and cons together, travel together. And we each read fanfiction, some of us write, and often we're even talking about that. Sounds like a fulfilling life to me.
