130. I like female characters who are "not typical feminine" because "typical feminine" tends not to be REAL feminine. I like female characters who are realistic and who aren't only in the story to be an accessory to their male counterparts. I love my female characters when they engage me, like Hagu or Ayumi from Honey and Clover, or are fun and fresh like Nodame from Nodame Cantabile. I like female characters who love their men but can also stand on their own like Kaoru from RK.

I dont like female characters who whine and cry but never actually do anything about their situation, and always have to be saved by men, or who are OMG tough but in the end STILL have to be saved by men. I just...dont find that interesting in a female characters, and if that makes me misogynist then so be it.

Also... in before wank and more tl;dr like mine XD!

As is Kaoru. But Kaoru did have to be saved...

Not all the time. She was able to stand on her own as an independent character from Kenshin, which is more what I meant. Also, she wasnt that strong so it would be silly to expect her to have saved herself from some of those crazies XD!!!

I hate these characters if they're male, too.

Like there are some pathetic failure characters that I can sympathize with, but not if the ONLY THING THEY SEEM TO DO is angst and woe about their situation.

It bothers me that when a female character does it they're thought to be doing it because they're girls. Gender is never brought into it if the men are whining and being emo.

Or worse, the emo whining boys get CALLED "girls" like all girls are whiny and emo.

And the cool girls get called "manly" because they're cool and kickass --

I agree... with the exception of Kaoru because she did turn out to be a damsel-in-distress after the first part. She was a better character before then when she used to fight with the guys. And I was hoping when she was fighting with the Juppongatana, her old persona would come back....
