People who think they're smarter than everybody else. Not only a problem in fandom, I'll admit.

A few years ago I would have said "people who insist ships are canon when they're really not" and that still kind of gets up my nose but I'm trying to get over it.

tbh the latter kind of bugs me sometimes lmao.

but it's more the insistence of a lie as a truth rather than any ill will towards the ship itself.

tho when it comes to lgbt ships or characters being claimed as canon, when they're just a headcanon, that actually does annoy me. i like to consume lgbt media so could you people stop touting a ship or character as canon lgbt when it's not even subtext.

It's especially frustrating when people seem to think if you (general you) don't think their lgbt ship is canon it's because you are homophobic and/or think the characters must be straight. No, it's just that some things aren't canon. (I guess this still bugs me more than I would like to admit.)

it's even funnier to me when people pull that because i'm gay myself. no, i assure you, me being homophobic isn't why i think they're not canon. it's because they are in fact, NOT CANON.

and lil gay me would like to watch actual canon-lgbt characters/ships when promised them tyvm.

Ugh, this. I'm fine with subtext because a lot of times (especially in older media) that's all you were going to get, but I want actual subtext and not just "they looked at each other once so they're totally in love."

i'm all for people making ships off of subtext or just because they think they'd be fun together. but when it comes to actual lgbt rep i expect it to be text when i watch it, not 'these two same-sex characters share screentime occasionally'.
