Quite a few faires throughout the US do theme weekends such as fantasy, steampunk (heavily influenced by DaVinci), and pirates, and actively encourage patrons to dress up in theme. Sorry OP, but you're in the minority on this one. Maybe the SCA would be more to your taste?
