I think granite is overrated but on the other hand that looks really tacky and out of place to me unless the kitchen is going for an 80s beach house vibe.

WOW, agree to disagree. 'Tacky' is the last word I would use. Granite just seems horrifically, boringly overrated; all those people on the house reno shows yammering on about it and....it looks like my formica counter tops.

I completely agree about that recycled glass counter top. Tacky and out of place is the perfect way to describe it.

As for granite, it's classic for a reason, but I'm not quite that much of a traditionalist, I don't think. I'd probably hunt for something a little more distinctive (but hopefully not tacky and out of place looking, lol).

IA. (Sorry tabaqui.) It'd be appropriate for a bar in a nightclub or something, but as a kitchen counter? Ugh, no thanks. I prefer either natural wood cabinets or a neutral/light painted wood look and the blue glass would look terrible with that.
