I agree, that is annoying. I mean, I also think some people take it too far in the other direction, basically acting like natural talent is everything. And I can definitely see how that would be really annoying for people who've busted their asses (naturally talented or not) to succeed.

I guess to me either extreme is equally annoying.

I can see how the other end is annoying too. I just feel like it's another way for artists (it's generally artists) to put themselves down and self-flagellate about how they're nothing special. Anyone could do what they do if they put in the same time into improving.

Like if they said "Ah yes, I do have a knack for perspective, for some reason it just really clicked with me." The Art Police will show up and fling them into a dumpster for being a fake because Real Artists have to loathe their pathetic selves.
