However, if people want to write a follow-up fic and ensuing JS angst, fluff, adventures and sexytimes, the Goblin King necessarily has to have his own characterization and agency outside of being Sarah's Jungian temptation figure in her own psychological coming-of-age Labyrinth ordeal...

Exactly. IMO, the idea of Jareth being a psychological construct of Sarah's is fascinating (and uh, not at all unknown the way ayrt was suggesting) but it doesn't really make for a great story if you want to write about the Labyrinth itself. I'm not really interested in a Goblin King who isn't his own person, with agency and other motivations and a life outside of Sarah's adventures. That's what I want to read about.
