Yes I am so confused by this secret

"Here are all the skinny tall Amazons, why are they all skinny and tall when I conveniently removed all the ones that aren't?"

Idk OP

(Anonymous) 2017-09-17 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
So, to be clear, the claim you're making is that there are short and fat Amazons in the film?

(Anonymous) 2017-09-17 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
No, to be clear, the claim I'm making is that not every single Amazon is young, skinny, tall, and a fashion model, but OP left them all out then seems mad that they weren't included and that is confusing

There are older and bigger Amazons in the movie, with certainly over 0% bodyfat

(Anonymous) 2017-09-17 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Links/pics?

I notice you've slightly altered your argument from saying OP "conveniently removed" Amazons to "left them all out". That's a lot more plausible, at least.

(Anonymous) 2017-09-17 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Conveniently removed from the metaphorical list by choice of photo

Here

(Anonymous) 2017-09-17 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Er... which one of those ladies doesn't fit the description in the secret?

(Anonymous) 2017-09-17 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know what your definition of "skinny" is but I do not think it is one we share

(Anonymous) 2017-09-17 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Did you read the secret carefully? That's why I specifically asked about OP's description, which also includes "athletic". You've moved the goalposts of your argument a little bit. Someone said there were no short, fat Amazons and you kind of implied that Amazons like that have been "removed" by the OP. The you amended and said no, you didn't mean "removed", you meant "left out". Then you said "There are older and bigger Amazons in the movie, with certainly over 0% bodyfat" and cited that DailyMail link as evidence. And now you've changed it to imply you only meant to provide evidence of Amazons who weren't skinny, which modifies your own previous claim... again.

I'm reading the secret. I don't know if OP's description is accurate, but so far I'm not seeing anything in that DailyMail article that disproves OP. Am I missing something in that article?

(Anonymous) 2017-09-17 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't say short fat Amazons were removed, I said the ones that didn't fit the OP's description were removed, with the implication that there were some that did not fit them. I hopefully explained myself more clearly down below in one of the long threads

I don't know where you got the idea that my original goalpost was that "fat, short Amazons existed" because it wasn't. The goalpost was "not all Amazons in the movie were young-tall-skinny" and that hasn't moved.

Idk, if you think the Amazon actresses in that article are "skinny" then our definitions of skinny are very different and I don't see a resolution besides agreeing to disagree

(Anonymous) 2017-09-17 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I notice you keep going back to the whole "skinny" issue, even though neither I nor the OP has said that there are only skinny Amazons. Hmmm. I'd argue that the Amazons in the article you linked are athletic in build. Very much so! And I'd point out that all of the women I saw in the article you linked fit OP's description. You seem to think they don't and that the article disproves OP's point. So I'm asking again: which one of those ladies doesn't fit the description in the secret?

OK.

It does kind of seem to me like kind of... quibbling over details? Like, it seems like OP does basically have a point that the majority of Amazons are extremely conventionally attractive and white?

(Anonymous) 2017-09-17 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a Hollywood movie, everyone is going to tend conventionally attractive

I felt the photo choice was disingenuous and doesn't represent the full range of people that were in the movie, while discussing the range of people that were in the movie, which is rather important to the argument at hand

I don't blame OP for using a photo that would sway people to their argument but felt it should be pointed out for those not aware that this is not the full lineup, as implied

(Anonymous) 2017-09-17 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess my point is that it kind of feels like OP represented it as being 90% and even with what you're saying it's still like... 80%

(Anonymous) 2017-09-17 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that of no concern when the argument is that "fandom is overreacting and treating this as more than it is"?

Establishing that it is more than represented in the secret would be important there, I feel, for people not familiar

(Anonymous) 2017-09-17 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess that's fair. The original comments kind of read like OP was making the problem up entirely.

(Anonymous) 2017-09-17 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
No no, I don't disagree completely with the OP, but saying that fandom is "creaming themselves" over something supposedly trivial then presenting it like this with this particular photo is disingenuously minimizing what those people are happy about

Of course it could be better and more, but it was certainly more than "they included a few black ladies"

(Anonymous) 2017-09-17 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
nayrt

To be fair, ayrt has walked back their argument a little because you called them on it. LOL!

"It's a Hollywood movie, everyone is going to tend conventionally attractive"

Dude, no. Not everyone. Leads, yes. Women, yes. Even women not in prominent roles generally tend to be attractive because that's how Hollywood casts people. But I'm going to go out in a limb and say that David Thewlis and Ewen Bremner aren't hotties.

(Anonymous) 2017-09-17 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
That's exactly why I said "going to tend" and not "going to be"? Exceptions existing doesn't mean that "attractive" isn't the default assumption for all actors or any race and gender

(Anonymous) 2017-09-17 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
You also said "everyone". I'm just pointing out a couple of the obvious exceptions, which you acknowledge here exist.

(Anonymous) 2017-09-17 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, everyone is going to tend to be, not everyone is going to be? I don't know what you're missing from that

Uh... did the OP photoshop out the women who weren't tall and skinny? I'm not seeing evidence of that. I did a reverse Google image search and this seems to be the source of the photo used:

https://twitter.com/dreamdom7/status/858551680421437440?lang=en

It looks like the same photo as the one in the secret. Not altered?

(Anonymous) 2017-09-17 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
No? They chose to use a photo full of young tall skinny women then were mad they were all young tall and skinny, except that wasn't all the Amazons?

(Anonymous) 2017-09-17 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I see. Omitting isn't the same as removing, though.

(Anonymous) 2017-09-17 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Removed from the lineup they are speaking about by choosing the photo they did

Haha I'm not accusing OP of photoshopping people skinny, that's too far even for here
