Dracula Untold?

(Anonymous) 2017-09-18 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I watched it and thought it was eh, all right. Not as horrible as I anticipated, but my expectations are very low for vampire movies. Part of my problem is that I just can't seem to warm to Luke Evans in any role I've ever seen him in. He's not horrible, just... very bland and forgettable and I have no idea why he keeps getting cast.

I haven't seen him in a lot, but I thought he was the best thing about the live action Beauty & the Beast. His Gaston almost made me love Gaston.

Me too. We need more dracula.

I love terrible movies. I'm always surprised how many people need historical accuracy in an action movie. Unless the movie is tooting its own horn about being historically accurate (or super faithful to a source material), I expect there will be enjoyable shenanigans and I am rarely let down.

I'm not a stickler for exact historical accuracy but I'd like for it not to be stupid ridiculous, you know? It's distracting to me when I'm trying to enjoy the TV show/movie.

Stupid ridiculous is the best! I'm so happy this doesn't bug me because I wouldn't have so many movies/shows to love.

(Anonymous) 2017-09-18 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't mind silliness if that's the tone of the movie, but it's not a good fit for drama, IMO.

List some, anon!

I enjoy those kinds of movies/shows too! Especially if it's clear they recognize they will not do history justice so they go full on crack!

(Anonymous) 2017-09-18 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I enjoyed it a lot too! I think it helped that the movie was reasonably historically accurate in its setting.

I didn't expect the ending and I loved it. The movie's slow in some places and there's not much slash however I did enjoy it.
Usually I don't care anout historical accuracy but I happen to know a bit anout the real Dracula's story. It irked me.

Same here. It was really entertaining and I thought the fact that they made Dracula more sympathetic and struggling with his vampirism was actually a nice touch.

I had zero expectations going into this but I ended up enjoying it for what it is; it's a decent action movie with decent effects and SPOILERS tbh how tf am I supposed to get mad at a movie that gave me a giant fist-shaped cloud of bats that punched an enemy army into submission?
