This was inspired by Stitchers, that just recently got cancelled. I genuinely liked the show, but it had so many flaws and had three seasons to fix them and really grow a following, but just kind of stayed mediocre.

Hemlock Grove. It was interesting and had potential, but season 3 was off the freaking rails.

That show was good as shit, but yeah.

Ideally what you'd have is more of a repertory thing so that you could have the same talent involved in a more sustainable way.

Sense8. I loved the characters but it's clear that the plot was going nowhere and doing nothing.

I thought Parks and Rec could have done with about a half-dozen fewer "goodbye" episodes.

Sense8 was a piece of shit.

Honestly, it's perfectly reasonable to not like the show. But actively hating it the way you obviously do just makes me side-eye you hard. Like, okay, so are you a bigot, a prude, or both?

I'm not sure "deserved" is the right word, but I think three seasons of Hannibal was the right amount. As brilliant as the show is, the third season was a weird meandering mess and they pretty much touched on everything they could do with the show. Continuing past the Season 3 ending would just be beating a dead horse.

I've always been under the impression S3 was basically two seasons hastily stripped down and then mashed together. The first half felt like it could easily have been a cohesive S3 unto itself, and the second half felt like a super hasty S4, which also could have been so much better if they'd had the time to develop it properly.

If Bryan Fuller hasn't ever said anything to this effect (I've never really looked), then I guess maybe that's not the case. But IDK, I think until I hear Fuller himself say that's not what they did, I'll be at least partially convinced that's what happened.

That was my impression too. But, I'm not sure the first half would have been a GOOD solo season.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I fucking love s3 of Hannibal, and a lot of the first half is some of my favorite moments in the series. But those moments are surrounded by a lot of stuff that kind of.... lost the plot somewhere along the way and drifted too far from it's foundations (all the Will+Chiyoh stuff). Or else was so far up it's own artsy ass that it wasn't very good TV (like the kaleidoscope sex).

I personally found season 3 to be brilliant, but I also agree- mostly for that ending. It's hard to think of an ending more perfect for a show like Hannibal, and I think it's the type of ending where a potential ever after is best left in the realm of fanfic.

I love s3 and it is brilliant, but imo it's also a mess. But yeah, it ended in the right spot. I know people want to see Bedilia eat her own leg or more Hannigram or whatever, but it's better left to the viewers' imaginations.
