I think her description of the tiny heart shaped cakes she got in The Big Woods is more memorable just because for me they sound like debbie cakes. But for her they were this amazing rare treat that her neighbor risked his life for.

Nah, definitely not like Little Debbie's. I don't think they were even frosted, it was mostly the novelty of a cake made with white sugar that made the difference. But IA, that was a memorable moment. I recall the vanity cakes Ma made, and eating chicken pie that was actually made of crows that spoiled their crop. But overall, Laura's side of the family wasn't as prosperous as Almanzo's, so their food memories weren't quite so appetizing sounding.
